Markham's Got Plans to Develop
Good Morning Markhamites
,
I hope everyone is safe from the storms that rolled through in the past few days. On the bright side, everyone’s lawns and gardens will never look better.
As we enter the dog days of summer, news gets a bit light. If you’ve got something you want to highlight about Markham or the community, Send me a pitch to themarkhamite@substack.com.

Council greenlights a bunch of projects that will transform Markham.
Yesterday's council meeting was busy, with the council approving multiple projects that will change the face of Markham for years to come. The Markham Centre Secondary draft plan was approved, and the Milliken secondary plan is almost approved. We are waiting on the final sign-off from the Province. Amendments that should help speed up development projects within Cornell and other neighbourhoods.
A significant research and design project is about to get underway. It is a project we touched upon back in April, with the lofty aspiration of reimagining the Stouffville GO line as essentially a subway, with each stop having its unique neighbourhood and purpose. Council is recommending that it undergo a study to determine the idea’s feasibility.
