Public Consultations next week for Markham Road between 16th and Major Mac and Milliken Centre
The public is invited to a meeting to discuss the City’s plans for two major areas undergoing massive redevelopment in the next few years - Hwy 48 Between 16th Avenue and Major Mac. The second area is Milliken Centre around Pacific Mall.
Markham Road - Mount Joy wants to be rezoned into residential, mixed-use. What’s of note is that north of Castlemore is almost exclusively being rezoned into a residential neighborhood.

Milliken Centre includes Kennedy Commons and Pacific Mall. The intent is to understand what can be done to the surrounding areas to accommodate housing and a transit-centric community after amending the original plans from 2014. Doordash released a 2023 trends report, and the largest order in DoorDash history came from an order in Markham, racking up $3300 in one delivery. According to the report, it’s not 300 burritos as one would imagine - but instead, that order included more than 30 different beauty products ranging from hair and makeup products to beauty tools.
