Flato Developments on Goverment’s MZO watchlist
Seven of Flato’s MZO’s granted to them have been put on a watchlist to be cancelled if not enough progress is being made on them. According to The Trillium:
One of the postings Calandra’s ministry made to the Environmental Registry of Ontario (ERO) said the 14 MZOs to housing-related developments that it’s monitoring will be tracked over the next 18 months and revoked or amended “if there is a lack of significant progress.”
Of those, seven are for projects of Rehmatullah's company, Flato, in Southgate, Kawartha Lakes, New Tecumseth, and Whitchurch-Stouffville.
So, to recap, Rehmatullah, noted “good friend” of Doug Ford, attends Doug Ford’s daughter’s stag and doe, AND the wedding, to influence the government to issue MZOs and swap greenbelt land they own. They then proceed to do very little if not nothing with planning of those lands, and are now in danger of the orders getting revoked, putting them to the back of the line for municipal planning purposes.
Minotaur Holdings Launches Constitutional Challenge Over Greenbelt Land Swap Issue.
We highlighted this story earlier in the year, but last week it was revealed that Minotar Holdings is going to issue a constitutional challenge against the Ford government for their property’s inclusion into the latest legislation reversing opening up the greenbelt.
The Property is just north of Major Mac in between McCowan and Kenndy, and Minotaur has owned the property since 2002. When the Greenbelt law came into effect, they were told after 10 years they would re-assess. Ten years went by and the property remained in the greenbelt until last year when the Ford Government included it in the “New Homes Built Faster act as a way to avoid a lawsuit from the property holder. Now, the property is being re-added to the greenbelt with a specific clause in the new legislation stating that this property owner cannot take legal action against them.
