Good Morning Markhamites,
The Markham Santa Claus Parade is this weekend. It’s a bit more notable than usual because this is the 50th anniversary of the city throwing this parade. Be sure to get there early so you can have the best view of the big guy as possible. As a note, Main Street and Hwy 7 will be closed until after the parade, so plan accordingly and consider taking public transit to Main St.
In other news, Markham’s 2025 budget was formally approved this week, bringing a 3.8% increase in municipal taxes, or a $54 increase over last year's city portion for the average Markham homeowner. However, we are still one of the lowest-taxed municipalities in the GTA.
