Highway (48) to the danger zone
Good Morning Markhamites,
Tomorrow is a PA day for both school boards. So plan accordingly.
In case you didn’t hear, Markham-raised comedian Neema Naz is bringing his diverse comedy tour to the Flato Markham Theatre on April 2nd, 2025. You might remember him as the host of Comedy Night at Rouge River Brewing, but most of you know him from his characters and sketches on Instagram or TikTok. It would be kind of cool to have the hometown kid sell out the Markham Theatre. Tickets are on sale now!

Maybe Avoid Highway 48 between Major Mac and Stouffville Road at night.
OPP has released a dashcam video in the hopes that people will be aware of the multiple instances of rocks being thrown at cars from the opposite direction of traffic, particularly on the Highway 48 corridor between Markham and Stouffville.
As you can see on this map, most of these instances occurred above Major Mac. However, in the video (Linked here and above), the incident that resulted in a severe crash happened on Major Mac.
The rocks are not small, either. This went through a windshield and landed in a victim’s car.
Police are appealing to anyone with any dashcam footage or additional information. In the meantime, please be cautious when driving these roads in the dark.
