Fast-Track to Transit and the 13th Rattiest City in Ontario.
Hello Markhamites,
Two quick reminders for you this week:
The first is that this is the first week that garbage pick-up will be accepting yard waste weekly until Dec 8th. Yes, they do take pumpkins.
And the second is that this Sunday marks the end of Daylight Savings Time. Don’t worry, most of your devices already know that and will switch over automatically.
Today’s read should take about 4 minutes.
Region recommends fast-tracking viva BRT lines in Markham.
A report from the regional council recommends fast-tracking four new BRT projects in Markham. The projects will connect to the existing BRT on Highway 7 west of Warden and down Yonge in Richmond Hill.
Three projects are being fast-tracked in Markham, with one in particular getting a push from the commissioner of public works - adding BRT bus lanes from the York-Durham line in the east to McCowan on Highway 7.
The other two involve connecting Enterprise Drive in Downtown Markham to the BRT system and retrofitting Kennedy Road as a major north/south artery.
Markham is on the list of the Rattiest cities in Ontario.
Ranks are determined by the amount of rodent (rat & mice) treatments the company performed from Aug. 1, 2022, through July 31, 2023, and includes both residential and commercial treatments.
Toronto topped both the Ontario and Canada lists, so it’s a miracle we’re only 13th.
Hey, one more reason to be glad we don’t live in Oakville.
